31 Days of Halloween--Day 15

In a previous post, I talked about deconstructing a Chinese food container, painting it, and then reassembling the container. Once the container is flattened, the surfaces become much easier to manipulate. I decided to cut out two of the faces of the container so I could then line them with vellum paper and a paper silhouette. Here are the results:

Front of the container
Back of the container
The silhouettes were placed on the inside of the container rather than on the outside so that the paper would be flush with the container walls. I then placed a battery operated tea light on the inside of the container and closed the lid.

Back of the container--

This project was a little more time consuming than some of the other projects that I have presented. Total time invested in this project was about 2.5 hours. The silhouettes were left over from previous projects. Working out the logistics of the Chinese container took longer than anticipated but would now be faster since all of the measurements have been finalized. Painting of the container and dry time would still be a constant of about 30 minutes.

These will be placed in the bathroom in the dark. They could also be placed outside as table decorations or evening suspended from tree branches.
